Tuition Assistance (TA)
Tuition Assistance (TA) is a Department of Defense (DOD) program. ArmyIgnitED is the virtual gateway for all eligible Active Duty, National Guard, and Army Reserve soldiers to request Tuition Assistance (TA) online, anytime, anywhere for classroom and distance learning. It allows soldiers to manage their education records including college classes, testing, on-duty classes, and Army Education Counselor support.
TA rules vary by branch of service and can even vary between units depending on whether the unit is active, Reserve, or National Guard. Follow the military service branch and component specific instructions on how to request Tuition Assistance for your course(s). Take note of the TA application instructions/deadlines specific to your branch.
Tuition Assistance Procedures
- Soldiers must request TA through https://www.armyignited.army.mil/student/ up to 60 days prior to the course start date but no later than 7 days prior to the course start date. TA is requested on a course-by-course basis.
- Army IgnitEd will notify the soldier whether the TA is approved. If the TA request is not approved, Army IgnitED will advise the soldier of the reason and next steps.
- The soldier will need to submit their approval TA request form to the ESCC VA office to ensure the funds are applied to their account. This can be submitted in person or via email at va@escc.edu.
- All drops/withdrawals must be handled through Army IgnitED. Soldiers who do not successfully complete a class will be required to repay TA. Soldiers who are unable to successfully complete a class due to military reasons must request a Withdrawal for Military Reasons through Army IgnitED and complete all required steps to ensure they will not be charged.
