Admission of Non-Citizens/International Students
Individuals who are not citizens of the United States and who require an I-20 form must use the following procedure for admission to ESCC. Students must complete the application process at least 30 days prior to the beginning of the semester for which enrollment is sought. The application process includes these requirements:
- Apply for admission to the College as a full-time non-transient student. If the student is transferring from another institution, they must be in good standing with that College/University.
- A certified, original, evaluated, and translated copy of the high school and/or college transcript. Translations must be completed by an organization affiliated with The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services; see www.naces.org for information. Request English translated copy be mailed to: Office of Admissions, Enterprise State Community College, P.O. Box 1300, Enterprise, AL 36331-1300. If you are from an English-speaking country or region, and your transcripts are already in English, they still must be evaluated for U.S. High School Equivalency.
- Request an official transcript (TOEFL scores) showing English proficiency. Students submitting official TOEFL score must meet the following minimum: 500 (Paper-based test), 173 (Computer-based test), or 61 (internet-based test). The TOEFL exam must have been completed no more than 3 years prior to the term of application. A 95 on the Duolingo exam will also be accepted in place of the TOEFL.
- Exceptions to the English proficiency requirement include students who have graduated from a regionally accredited United States high school, a transfer student who has successfully completed ENG 101 with a grade of C or higher at a regionally accredited United States college or university, or a citizen of an English speaking country that has been granted an exemption to the testing requirement. Please contact the Admissions Office if you feel that your home country qualifies as English speaking and constitutes an exemption.
- Signed and notarized financial sponsorship documents (please see below for acceptable documents) in the student's/sponsor's name documenting evidence of at least $17, 800 US dollars or the equivalent for the 23-24 academic year. If a student is requesting dependents the student/sponsor must provide documents verifying an additional $5000 US Dollars for each additional dependent.
- Acceptable financial documents: 1. A letter on official stationery (must be an original document or verifiable, true copy or unaltered scan of the original document), must be submitted from a bank or other financial institution where the prospective student or parent has savings deposits, certificates of deposit, money market certificates, or other types of accounts containing readily available funds. 2. If deposits are in more than one financial institution, a separate letter must be submitted from each bank. 3. The letter(s) must provide a specific amount of funds and the name of the account holder. 4. The letter(s) must be signed and dated less than six months from when the student plans to enroll. 5. No changes, alterations, or modifications may be made to any information appearing on the letter(s). 6. Income tax statements or returns, proof of property ownership, and letters stating that the student or the sponsor possesses “sufficient financial resources” or “earns enough” are NOT acceptable as evidence of readily available funds. 7. The bank letter must be in English; otherwise, attach a translation into English.
- Submit documentation of medical health history and proof of vaccination.
- Secure private housing as Enterprise State Community College does not provide dormitory facilities.
- Present a current and valid passport and visa or other official documentation to verify lawful presence.
- Submit proof of adequate accident, sickness, and life insurance that includes evacuation repatriation. Students must maintain insurance coverage throughout the duration of their I-20.
- Pay the out-of-state tuition fee if not a military spouse or family member.
- Pay I-901 Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) fee.
- NOTICE: Enterprise State Community College does NOT participate in the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program through Sevis.
- On-Campus Employment On-Campus jobs are few in number and difficult to obtain. Therefore, you are advised not to plan on supplementing your financial support with on-campus employment.
- Off-Campus Employment It is a violation of U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulations for international students to be employed off campus. Unauthorized employment will result in loss of valid nonimmigrant status and its benefits. Do NOT expect to supplement your financial support by working off-campus.
- Request and receive from Enterprise State Community College the I-20 form when all admission requirements have been completed. Notes:
- The I-20 form will not be issued to transient or part-time students.
- Any and all elements of Enterprise State Community College admission requirements are subject to change without prior notice.

Due to ESCC having open admissions a student may receive an official acceptance letter prior to all documents being received to make a determination on issuing an 120. Form I-20 will not be provided until all requirements have been met and all documents have been received and approved.
