Legal Assistant/Paralegal Certificate

This program provides students with knowledge and skills needed by paralegals and other personnel responsible for assisting professional in law offices. Graduates earn a Certificate in Legal Assistant/Paralegal. Note that AAS degree and certificate programs are not designed to be transfer programs, however the Enterprise State Community College Paralegal Program is approved by the American Bar Association (ABA) and other schools approved by the ABA may accept legal specialty courses that are equivalent in nature.

In addition to the required legal specialty courses, the American Bar Association guidelines require that a student in the Certificate program obtain a minimum of eighteen (18) hours of general education courses in at least three (3) disciplines. The Alabama Commission on Higher Education has approved a suggested sequence of courses for the Certificate program; however general education courses may be substituted upon approval on a case by case basis. General education credits may be obtained through transfer credits.

Note that AAS degree, certificate, and short-term certificate programs are not designed to be transfer programs.
