MET 225 Mechanical Systems II

This course offers a continuation of the study of the topics contained in Mechanical Systems 1. Topics will include advanced gear drive systems, shaft seals and packing, mechanical seals, advanced bearings, brakes and clutches, troubleshooting shaft alignments and coupling issues, power transmission screws, and vibration metering and analysis. Upon completion of this course, the student will have demonstrated the ability to install, maintain, and repair a vast array of mechanical equipment including applications such as working in a gearbox, a pump, and a wheel hub. Weekly laboratory exercises will be performed in order that students gain confidence in the skills associated with advanced mechanical systems.
