Admission to Programs with Additional Requirements

ESCC is an open admissions institution and accepts all students who meet the requirements detailed in the General Admission Policies And Procedures section of the Academic Catalog and Student Handbook. However, individual programs of study at the College may institute additional requirements which students must fulfill to enter the program, progress through the program, or graduate from the program. Below are two programs with additional requirements:

Emergency Medical Services
- Program Entry Requirements
  - Negative Background Screening
  - Negative drug test
  - Complete immunizations
    - TB skin test and/or chest X-Ray
    - Varicella (2) vaccinations or Titer showing immunity
    - MMR (2) or Titer showing immunity
    - Tetanus D within last ten years
    - Hepatitis B (3) vaccination, positive
    - Titer showing immunity or signed waiver
  - Annual Physician (or designee) Physical with ESCC form completed.
  - CPR certification at the Health Care Provider Level (American Heart Association)
- Progression
  - Student must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher
  - Liability Insurance
Medical Assisting Technology
- Program Entry Requirements
  - Student must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  - Student must be eligible for, or have already completed, ENG 101, MTH 116 or higher, and have satisfied the College’s reading requirement
- Program Progression Requirements
  - Student must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher
  - Minimum grade of “C” in all required courses with a minimum of 70% on all skills.
  - Satisfactory level of mental and physical health:
    - Student Agreement of Essential Functions Form
    - Negative drug screen and background check. (Dual enrollment students exempt from background check until clinical and laboratory courses)
  - Malpractice insurance required when enrolled in laboratory, clinical, or practicum courses
- Capstone Course Requirements
  - Annual Physician Physical (Physical and Essential form completed).
  - Documented Immunizations - Hepatitis series, 2 MMR, TdaP, and Varicella (or provide titer of immunity)
  - TB skin test or chest X-Ray
  - Documentation or waiver of annual Flu vaccination
  - CPR certification at the Health Care Provider Level (American Heart Association)
