Powerplant Technology Certificate

This program prepares students to take the Federal Aviation Administration written, oral, and practical examinations required for certification as an aviation maintenance technician with a power plant endorsement. Graduates earn a Powerplant Technology Certificate. Note that AAS degree, certificate, and short-term certificate programs are not designed to be transfer programs.

Although it is not a requirement for graduation, successful completion of the Aviation program’s General and Airframe Comprehensive Exams is a requirement to be eligible for the FAA Written Exam and the FAA Oral and Practical Exam which leads to FAA certification. Students must register and pay the current examination fees prior to testing. See the semester schedule and announcements at the Alabama Aviation College for details on exam dates and registration deadlines. The fee for taking the exam on the published date is $20. The fee for taking the exam outside of published times is $50.
